About the Role
This post is to support a core service within Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) whose purpose is to assist and provide technical support for research within the institute, specifically for in vivo animal-based research and preclinical imaging. The post-holder will be expected to provide exemplary practical technical support to QMUL research scientists and students and to our external core service users on animal-based research.

About You
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in in vivo research and competency in performing a range of regulated procedures. You will possess a BSc or equivalent experience in a biological discipline, a Home Office Personal Licence with modules PIL A & B and the ability to provide instruction and supervision in laboratory in vivo and ex vivo experimental techniques. PIL C and experience in in vivo imaging would be advantageous.

The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care. BCI is also a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre (together with UCL, Kings and the Francis Crick Institute) which is a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics.  BCI is committed in supporting and developing future cancer researchers through its extensive postgraduate training.  It is one of six institutes within The School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD).

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment until 31.03.2027, with an expected start date of January 2025. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £39,065 - £45,622 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
